Lineage Boba Fett

Blog Post

This is going to be a long one... TWSS.

So it turns out- the longer you wait for something the more possible it is!   For several years I've been in search of one of my "grail items"-- a true Lineage Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett helmet. When I say years, I mean YEARS.

I was lucky enough to pick up the Pre-Production Two Helmet (PP2 - GMH with metal ears) from FettPride on The dented Helmet, about 5 years ago, and at the time that was one of the best lineage helmets you could acquire.

For those who do not know, the PP2 was used for production glamor shots and mainly publicity photos and the Kenner action figure card.  I'm not going to go further into the GMH. But if you want to know more about it, here is a PDF that Art Andrews wrote up on it several years ago. Art is the founder of TheDentedHelmet.com (TDH) and TheRPF.com (Replica Prop Forum).

Back to the story. A few years ago I was on a trip and met up with a friend that had in their possession a genuine First generation casting of THE Empire helmet and ever since, I was on a mission to find my own.

And here we are, 3 years later and as it turns out; The community now has access to a second generation casting of the Empire Strikes Back helmet. There are a few prop makers out there with permission to make this helmet, but of course I decided to go with my friends over at RS Props in England. Their castings and replicas are THE BEST OF THE BEST.

So hopefully over the next few months I will be able to blog some progress on this bad boy. I have several found parts including the Casio MQ-1 calculator circuit board, metal ears, micro-switch, metal borden, all the correct screws, correct 3mm visor (that is the correct shape), correct vintage chin cup/ straps, and vintage helmet liner.  I plan to also do the inside which needs to have the FG fabric added for texture and painted blue, I need to add the Milliput, and metal pieces that hold the visor in.

I'm also looking to replicate the circuit board that runs the ranger finder lights. I have a 10x24 board. I just need all the components.

Anyways, come back and check out the progress!

EDIT: RS does not appear to be selling these anymore. However, there are several options for a linage helmet now. I would recommend starting here
